Satellite based internet: Elon Musk is going to bring his dream project to India soon. They have applied to the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe) to set up an earth station. Starlink is a satellite-based internet service created by SpaceX. With the help of this, internet can be reached to far-flung places without wires. Meanwhile, news has come to the fore that to compete with Musk’s company, Amazon is soon going to launch its own satellite based internet service. For this the company will invest $210 million.

Amazon said last Friday that the company would invest $120 million to build a satellite construction facility at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. The company said it is part of a plan to launch a space internet service to compete with Elon Musk’s Starlink. In addition, the company’s “Project Kuiper” will provide “fast, affordable broadband to underserved communities around the world” with a constellation of more than 3,200 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). We have ambitious plans for Project Kuiper’s full-scale production launch and early customer pilots next year, in which this new satellite construction facility will play an important role, said Steve Metair, vice president of Kuiper Production Operations.

Let us tell you, Amazon has another production facility in Kirkland, Washington where it will start operations by the end of this year. The units will then be flown to Florida for final preparation and integration with Blue Origin and United Launch Alliance (ULA) rockets before launch.

Elon Musk’s company launched the satellite in 2019

Elon Musk’s company SpaceX launched the first batch of more than 3,700 operational Starlink satellites in 2019 and the company has launched 4,000 satellites so far. Starlink internet facility is currently available in many countries. All big countries are entering the race of satellite based internet service. Here, China is planning to launch 13,000 satellites as part of its Guowang constellation.
