Auto sales report: 10 percent jump in vehicles, FADA figures reveal

Sales report by FADA: New data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) claimed that retail auto sales in India grew by 10 percent year-on-year in May. Total vehicle retail sales in the domestic market rose 10 percent in June. This includes passenger vehicles and two-wheelers. The Federation of Vehicle Dealers Association (FADA) has informed. Last month, the total retail sales of cars rose to 18,63,868 units from 17,01,105 units in the same period a year ago.

Retail sales of passenger cars rose five percent to 2,95,299 units in June. In June 2022, 2,81,811 passenger cars were sold in the domestic market. Similarly, two-wheeler sales rose seven percent to 13,10,186 units last month. A year ago, 12,27,149 two-wheelers were sold in the same month. Three-wheeler sales rose 75 percent to 86,511 units from 49,299 units in June last year.

Retail sales of tractors grew 45 percent year-on-year to 98,660 units, while sales of commercial vehicles stood at 73,212 units, marginally higher than 72,894 units in June 2022. FADA President Manish Raj Singhania said that retail sales of cars have grown by 10 per cent on a year-on-year basis. On the other hand, sales fell by eight percent on a month-on-month basis.
