The craze of foldable smartphone is increasing continuously in India. According to a report, the role of foldable (including flip) smartphones is likely to be more than 1.8 percent of the total smartphone revenue in India this year. This year, the total sales of smartphones are going to reach more than Rs 6,300 crore. According to the report, more than 6.35 lakh foldable smartphones are expected to be sold this year.
Expected to cross the 10 lakh mark
Market research firm techARC says this is less than 0.5 percent of total sales as estimated for that period. The annual sales of the foldable smartphone are expected to cross the 10 lakh mark in the year 2025, which will double in 3 years by the year 2028. It has been said in the report that cheap foldables, especially such handsets priced below Rs 80,000, are going to play a big role in sales growth.
Flip smartphones to account for 64% of sales by 2023
In the year 2023, they are already expected to contribute to more than half (52 per cent) of total sales in terms of units. Along with this, it has also been said that during the year 2023, 64 percent of the sales will be of flip smartphones. In the market, such handsets have been categorized into two variants H-fold (flip smartphone) and V-fold (fold or book fold smartphone). Handset like Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, Motorola Razr 40, Oppo Find N2 Flip, Techno Phantom V Fold, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 are being sold in India.
