Documents required to avoid traffic shipment: It is useful for those who are driving. We are telling you about some documents, which should always be with you while driving. In case of their absence, not only heavy fines but also jail time.

Driving license traffic rules

This document is first sought in case of violation of rules while driving. Your driver only proves that you are legally allowed to drive. According to the latest Motor Vehicle Act, if you don’t have a driving license, you can be fined Rs 5,000.

Registration Certificate/RC Traffic Rules

After the driving license, the second thing that the traffic police wants is the vehicle registration certificate. It records the vehicle owner’s name, vehicle name, model number, engine details, registration number etc. If you are stopped, if your vehicle does not have RC, it can result in a fine of Rs 10,000 or 6 months in jail. A fine of Rs 15,000 and/or imprisonment for 2 years is punishable on re-caught.

This document must be carried with you while driving. Vehicle insurance documents may also be asked at the time of check. Failure to submit it, the license may be revoked. With this, invoices up to Rs.2000 can be deducted. Or, three months imprisonment with community service.

PUC Certificate Traffic Rules

In view of increasing pollution, the Government of India is emphasizing on Pollution Under Control (PUC) certification. Whether two-wheeler or four-wheeler, must have PUC certificate. This document is also required to be carried with you while driving. It also needs to be renewed from time to time. If you are caught driving without a PUC certificate, you can be jailed for up to 6 months or fined up to Rs 10,000 or both.

DigiLocker and mParivahan are accepted across the country

Put in DigiLocker or M-Parivahan app, valid across the country

Apart from the documents mentioned above, you also need to carry identity proof with you to avoid traffic checks. This is not necessary though. But in case of police investigation you may be asked to match the documents you show. In case of emergency, Aadhaar card, passport or any other document should be kept with you at all times. You can keep all these documents in Digicar or M-Transport app. It is valid across the country.
