Volvo EV: Swedish luxury vehicle giant Volvo Cars is expected to record record sales in India this year on the back of its electric vehicles. The company has launched its electric SUV C40 Recharge for the first time in India. It will be officially released for sale in August and deliveries will also start from September. The C40 Recharge will be Volvo’s second electric car in India. Earlier, the company had launched the XC40 model in India in August last year.

Jyoti Malhotra, managing director of Volvo Cars India, said that sales figures in India are expected to increase based on this electric vehicle. He said, this year has started well and we hope to do better this year than the last few years.

Malhotra said supply issues still remain, but Volvo expects to exceed its 2018 record sales level in 2023. Volvo sold a maximum of 2,600 vehicles in 2018. But in 2022 this number was only 1,800.

Malhotra said that problems related to supply of semiconductors still persist due to which vehicles are not being supplied as per the demand. In such cases the average waiting time from booking to delivery is three months.

However, he hoped that the presence of electric cars would help Volvo better its sales record in India. He said, through the launch of the new model, we hope to connect new customers with us.
