By 2025, petrol with 20% ethanol will be available at petrol pumps across the country, says Petroleum Minister

Three times the number of petrol pumps selling bio-fuel

Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said the ethanol blend in petrol has increased from 1.53 per cent in 2013-14 to about 11.5 per cent by March 2023. In terms of volume, ethanol blended petrol has increased from 38 crore liters in 2013-14 to 433.6 crore liters in 2021-22. Similarly, the number of petrol pumps selling bio-fuel has almost tripled to 67,640 from 29,890 in 2016-17, he said. The government aims to blend 20 percent ethanol in petrol by 2025. The government has made it 11.5 percent ahead of schedule.
